GALAMEDIANEWS- Lagu Blinding Lights yang dinyanyikan The Weeknd adalah single kedua dari album studio keempat The Weeknd After Hours, yang diikuti dari single utama rekaman yang berjudul “Heartless” yang dirilis dua hari sebelumnya pada tanggal 27 november 2019. 

Lagu ini pertama kali diumumkan pada 24 november 2019 di trailer Mercedes Benz. Iklan penuh memulai debutnya beberapa menit setelah lagu tersebut dirilis dan sangat berpusat di sekitarnya. Dalam iklan tersebut, The Weeknd berkeliling dengan mobil Mercedes saat trek diputar di latar belakang.

Lagu tersebut bocor pada 26 November 2019, beberapa hari sebelum perilisan resminya. Abel mengakui hal ini dalam tweet , di mana dia mengonfirmasi rilis resminya:
